Matt has more than 20 years experience in the oilfield service business, primarily in the Pipe Coating industry. His latest position was as Senior Vice President, with Bayou Perma-Pipe, with responsibility for their business and operations in both the USA and Canada.
Matt took over as the president of Cantak Tubulars in 2017.
Executive Vice President
Hiroaki is from the Yamanashi Prefecture near Mount Fuji in Japan. He attended Waseda University in Tokyo and earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Engineering finishing in 2003. He started his professional career with SAP and then joined Metal One in 2006.
During his tenure at Metal One Hiroaki has been stationed in Beijing, Tokyo and now Calgary. Hiroaki started at Cantak as EVP in September 2020 bringing his experience in energy products to guide the company forward. In his spare time he enjoys practicing karate and spending time with his wife and daughter.
Chief Financial Officer
Peter grew up on a farm near Whitelaw in the Peace Country region of Northern Alberta. After finishing his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta in 1992 he started his professional career. During this time, he received his CPA and worked in a variety of different industries, both domestically and internationally, from pipe coating to forestry.
Peter joined Cantak in January 2020 bringing 25 years of accounting and financial experience to the company. In applying his previous experience, from both senior management roles and as a CFO, he is benefitting Cantak greatly. During his spare time Peter enjoys many outdoor activities and spending time with his family.
Vice President, BD
Jim is a Metallurgical Engineer and holds his MBA with both degrees from Queen’s University. Through his years of experience at Evraz he has held a Quality Assurance role, Technical Sales role, various management roles looking after OCTG and Line Pipe
and has dealt with end users, managed pipeline projects and managed distribution customers. At Hallmark he was heavily involved in managing and promoting their Nisku (HITS) pipe yard as well as their Field Services division. Aside from standard steel pipe he is familiar with coil and plate, as well as VIT and Piling Pipe.
Kate’s tenure with Cantak is approaching 15 years with most of her experience focused on the Line Pipe side of the business. Highlights of her career include managing numerous large diameter transmission pipeline projects, successfully marketing steam pipe and mid-diameter pipe solutions, as well as expanding Cantak’s Line Pipe network by building quality relationships with key customers, mill sources and domestic service providers.
Kate is from Coldstream, BC, graduated from University of Victoria with distinction and now calls Calgary home with her husband, son and dog.
