Matt has more than 20 years experience in the oilfield service business, primarily in the Pipe Coating industry. His latest position was as Senior Vice President, with Bayou Perma-Pipe, with responsibility for their business and operations in both the USA and Canada.

Executive Vice President

After graduating from the TOKYO University of Foreign Studies in 1993, Hiroshi joined the Mitsubishi/Metal One group. In his 25 years in the steel pipe business he has managed offices in Japan and Russia. When Cantak was purchased by Metal One, Hiroshi moved to Calgary to help with the transition.

Hiroshi is very active in the Japanese community and is currently one of directors of the Japanese School in Calgary. He is also an avid trail marathon runner – most recently completing an 60km in Kananaskis.

GM Operations

After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary, Scott joined Cantak in 1990. In his 29 years with the company he has worked his way up to General Manager of OCTG and using his wealth of experience he has guided the company forward within the market.

Highlights of his career include managing the Talisman/Repsol contract from 2010-2015. Outside of being the go-to OCTG guru in the office Scott is an avid golfer and enjoys spending time with his family.

Vice President, BD

Jim is a Metallurgical Engineer and holds his MBA with both degrees from Queen’s University. Through his years of experience at Evraz he has held a Quality Assurance role, Technical Sales role, various management roles looking after OCTG and Line Pipe

and has dealt with end users, managed pipeline projects and managed distribution customers. At Hallmark he was heavily involved in managing and promoting their Nisku (HITS) pipe yard as well as their Field Services division. Aside from standard steel pipe he is familiar with coil and plate, as well as VIT and Piling Pipe.

Chief Financial Officer

After graduating from the University of Regina, Scott obtained his Chartered Accountant designation while articling with Ernst & Young. Scott was employed with Ernst & Young from 1987 to 1998, rising to the level of Senior Audit Manager.

He moved on to become Vice-President of Financial Reporting and Compliance with Inter Pipeline Fund until 2008, when he took on the role of Chief Financial Officer for Altus Energy Services Ltd. Scott joined Cantak Corporation in September of 2012 as Chief Financial Officer.
